Harrison's talent on display at Vallelunga after a difficult Qualifying

ree

Overall it was a challenging and frustrating few days that ultimately yielded a couple of decent race results at Vallelunga.

Qualifying went very badly. On a wet but drying track, the the opportunity to bring Bart in and change to new tyres was missed and a possible pole position became P18. The aim for the rest of the weekend, therefore, had to be damage limitation and an effort to race into the top ten and pick up whatever points were possible.

Race one ended on the second lap, when two slower cars collided and collected Bart in their accident. With the car repaired, the focus for Bart’s second race on Sunday morning was, first and foremost, to finish, in order to make it onto the grid for the final. That didn’t stop Bart from pushing to move forward and at one point, he was heading for a top five finish until another car spun in front of him forcing him to drive off track to avoid crashing, dropping four places in the process. Ultimately he would be classified eighth.

Starting P16 for the final on Sunday afternoon, Bart made a blistering start and, by the end of lap one, he was sitting in sixth place. For the remainder of the race he had his mirrors full of his teammate, Artem Severukin, who he had overtaken just after the start, but he kept a steady nerve and brought the car home in P6.

Given the disastrous qualifying, the points on Sunday came as a welcome bonus.
